Beware of the AI Fear Mongering (2025-01)
BEWARE OF THE AI FEAR MONGERING
There are a lot AI fear mongering and nutjob opinions, cuz its hot topic like robotic and nano tech panic in y2k.
No scientist can be certain to what degree jobs will be replaced by AI. A lot, for sure, but that's just progress of sci and engineering.
Also, the AI replacing programers is laughable. The more AI, the more competent programers and mathematicians we need.
Right now, AI can just help and suggest solving toy coding problems. In real programing job, half of the task is knowing what is the problem, what you need to code. You need to talk to clients, bosses, people. AI cannot do that.
Nor can any stop us doing AI, it's like nukes. if you forbid AI, somebody somewhere will do it and rule you. AI and robotics go hand in hand. Like techonology in general, e.g. bicycle n cars, we cannot stop it unless there is a omnipotent alien that forbid us by force.
Also, many say we gonna have human level AI aka AGI. That is also far fetched. We don't know even that's possible, or what exactly it means. If ai really obtain consciousness, what happens again we have no idea other than the scifi of taking over humanity, or, just like humans, they form warring factions. (because by neuro net nature, they r not hive mind)
Is AI dangerous? Yes, of course. Right now already, because you wouldn't know who is real or what is real on social media. by the mere fact it can generate thousands of essays or poems or photos in a second.
But about the disaster of replacing jobs, or sentient AI, or how it enslave humans, yes, it's a problem, but nobody really know what will happen, even the top AI scientists. Anyone talk tall tales, especially those in AI startups, treat them as griefters.
