2020-09-10 sergio hernandez Hi Xah, have a nice day Xah Lee hi sergio Xah Lee coming on in 5 BartholomewJS Greetings. Xah Lee damn livechat box is not showing BartholomewJS @Xah Lee I've seen over screamers also complain about YouTube Studio changes, recently. BartholomewJS other screamers Welcome to live chat! Remember to guard your privacy and abide by our community guidelines. LEARN MORE Cortez Phenix Good morning, ☀️ everyone BartholomewJS @Xah Lee I think you need a lowpass filter when recording. BartholomewJS Okay, actually highpass. Mixed up both terms . Elderio Meersky Hello, world! Michael Edwards [message retracted] Justin Scarfy morning BartholomewJS @Xah Lee Your opinion on using many different random libraries, instead of writing your own one for your app. BartholomewJS @Xah Lee Especially in JavaScript so many random libraries are used, even for the simplest tasks... BartholomewJS @Xah Lee But each library has their own risk of breaking the project that imports that library. Sun Zhe library oriented programming Freddy Freeman hi there Freddy Freeman came just right in time for a rant it seems? 😀 BartholomewJS @Sun Zhe Writing an application just to use a library. Freddy Freeman hi @BartholomewJS BartholomewJS @Freddy Freeman Precisely. 👋 BartholomewJS "Not a good human animal." That sounds so Xah cultish. 😄 Keenan Lynch Good day from Flint MI José Srqv Good day from Ecuador ! Freddy Freeman "i have an article on that actually" - xah Freddy Freeman most famous quote BartholomewJS @Freddy Freeman Yeah, I doubt there is a topic in this world, that has no Xah article associated with it. BartholomewJS @Xah Lee It's hard to follow that advise from e.g. a Kubernetes perspective. It is based a lot on env vars and even if you don't use them, then you still depend on constructs very similar to env vars. BartholomewJS @Xah Lee If you work with Kubernetes and try to NOT use env vars, your life will be very hard and clumsy, because you somehow would need to pass information to containers some other weird and less BartholomewJS convenient way. BartholomewJS @Xah Lee Kubernetes Secrets are similar to env vars. BartholomewJS The difference is, that Secrets are only stored on Kubernetes and not directly in the container, like classical env vars. easlweasl hello:goodvibes: BartholomewJS The point is basically, that you would need to make a huge workaround, if you refuse to use env vars for containers in Kubernetes Pods. BartholomewJS @Xah Lee Foundations are there to pump money into something without paying taxes. BartholomewJS @Xah Lee All rich people like Gates, Bezos, etc. have foundations where they pump all their money into. BartholomewJS @Xah Lee Great take on citations. If you can deduct something in a purely logical way, you don't need "citation". José Srqv I know nothing ! Derek Rhodes The impetus of libraries is what was called "code reuse". back in the day. too many libraries fracture effort. It's a trade off, too many libraries, too much fracture, not enough libraries, Derek Rhodes not enough library diversity. infomatec I nothing ! Derek Rhodes abstract algebra++ Derek Rhodes penrose tiling, complex analysis Derek Rhodes thanks XAH!!! Freddy Freeman i gtg, thx xah for the talk BartholomewJS @Xah Lee I knew M.C. Escher but didn't know the butterfly one. It looks stunning and beautiful. Keenan Lynch protein folding Keenan Lynch like hurricane models and such? BartholomewJS See you next scream.
