Xah Lee good morn Xah Lee start in 5 min Troy Fletcher I have some work to do but will try to join while it's live. Farzin F @Xah Lee I just ordered my UHK 60 v2 last week. Excited to use it. I ordered it with pink switches. Farzin F no audio Farzin F audio is gone Farzin F @Xah Lee Xah, we can't HEAR YOU Nimetion Shikosico @Xah Lee NO AUDIO!!!! Nimetion Shikosico Audio Okay now ZitronCrazy Hello Xah Lee BartholomewJS Greetings, everyone. BartholomewJS 😀 BartholomewJS @Xah Lee Do you think people (mathematicians, physicists, etc.) still need real physical calculators or can they replace them by smartphone apps? Farzin F hey Xah Farzin F @Xah Lee I was on the phone so I didn't hear if you replied. Have you ever tried pink switches? Syed Ali Hi Xah greetings.. interesting keyboard the signum. Very similar to the Atreus (now keyboardio) breaktheloop @BartholomewJS i recently purchased a HP Prime calculator because i preferred having the physical keys of a real calculator, and also disliked having to tie up my iPhone as a calculator breaktheloop when i am usually using my smartphone for something else ZitronCrazy This creepy smile is Bart BartholomewJS @breaktheloop But is there a scientific reason for using a physical one? I'm sure it's more comfortable, but considering a very good calculator can cost more than 100 bucks, this may be a hefty price. Nimetion Shikosico @Xah Lee Casio MP-12R is the best calculator for common people, you can calculate quotient and remainder on it breaktheloop the software version on a phone can likely do everything equivalent. In fact, the HP Prime has an emulator app they sell on the app store. It just comes down to interface and accessibility to me breaktheloop i prefer having my calculator next to me when i'm practicing math, and dislike having to open an app breaktheloop with my phone, i have to unlock it if it goes to sleep, etc breaktheloop juts a pain in the ass compared to having a dedicated hardware device for math calculations breaktheloop whoa, the sphere vase is neat looking breaktheloop here is an interview with Ben Eater, the creator of the educational breadboard videos (creating a computer from scratch) and that quaternion visualization that Xah showed: Farzin F @Xah Lee I'm getting a UHK v2. I plan to use negative tilting. Do you use any of the modules on your UHK? Frenziefrenz 1080p's looking good 🙂 Troy Fletcher Hey Xah, thanks for the feedback on the Signum, you're totally right about the makers and their assumption that everyone can understand our details 🙂 Syed Ali Agile is a real pain Troy Fletcher I can make a video on how to set up your QMK layout and load your signum 3.1 Mark Olenik @Xah Lee what's wrong with agile in your opinion? BartholomewJS @Mark Olenik You just opened Pandora's Box... ThomasASP Elitism. Linux is complicated because it is crap. Not because it's complicated. Jonathan Barquero Hello, what other better alternatives to agile do you think we have? Matthew Bryson Stop eating animal products and oil ThomasASP Computer pseudoscience. BartholomewJS @ThomasASP I think Elitism is a huge problem in the whole Software Development world. How many times do I have seen .... with 30+ years experience defending bad practice, because it's not for "n00bs". Troy Fletcher Agile doesn't technically generate good or manageable code, it just meets deadlines and adds features. Looks good to a board of directors. Troy Fletcher Or a manager/beancounter who ticks checkboxes Jonathan Barquero The problem is we have a lot of leaky abstractions. Mark Olenik But aren't the core principles of agile sound? Like the idea that getting feedback frequently is a good idea? BartholomewJS @Troy Fletcher But what's wrong with that? If you do not meet deadlines and do not meet budget expectations, you will go bankrupt. I rather have a imperfect product than have no product, at all. Troy Fletcher The process of writing good software does not mean jamming every customer feature in as soon as possible. Troy Fletcher I'll make a video with the details for you! Troy Fletcher The webpage has a config to load to that kbfirmware page that fills in those pins and wiring and such, then you just click the key and press the button you want. Cammil Taank Agile is systematised common sense Cammil Taank At least that's what it seems to me, in most companies Troy Fletcher @Cammil Taank don't forget selling the marketing/training plans! Cammil Taank Those gits Mark Olenik thanks for the stream! Cammil Taank Ta Xah
