here's a summary.

everything works
suddenly around late jan 2026 , i can no longer sync.
i upgraded my local rsync. no go.
today, we fixed it. the reason is because my windows rsync cannot work with Microsoft Windows's bundled ssh.
solution is to use the windows binary of rsync and ssh built by github.com/itefixnet/cwrsync-client , and setup env var so the right ssh (and rsync) is called.
so what was the problem that cause the break?
probably something changed in jan 2026, either on my web hosting server, or Microsoft Windows update on my machine.
