just for fun, here's how my desktop looks on average days in past year.

I actually never full-screen. Only did here to get more area in one shot, showing different modes. Typically, i use 2 or 3 emacs windows (what emacs calls “frame”).

The summation sign ∑ is display name of Emacs: Xah Math Input Mode (xah-math-input.el)

The ξ is part of the display of my modes. [see Xah Emacs Packages]
