Why is Python Popular (2022)
Python is popular mostly due to Google, twice.
Once in y2k when Google chose it to be the company's scripting language. Python was unknown at the time. The only other choice was the cryptic and hackery Perl.
Second time was in 2010 with machine learning fad from Google. e.g. TensorFlow. The rise of jargons such as big data, data science. Google also directly or indirectly funded python. e.g. Python Software Foundation. Guido worked at Google, 2005 to 2012. Google Summer of Code, NumFOCUS (for numpy scipy pandas, etc.)
