CSS: Core Web Fonts
What is core web fonts
Core Web Fonts was a set of fonts distributed by Microsoft in 1996 to provide a standardized, high-quality fonts for the Web.
Most of them became practical standard for the web up, until google started Google Webfont in 2010.
Even today 2026-06-02, some of them are still considered the default in browsers. They are:
- Arial
- Times New Roman
- Courier New
and less used but still common:
- Georgia
- Verdana

All the fonts are available on Microsoft Windows and macOS as of 2026-06-02, except Andalé Mono.
