9 programable buttons. But actually just the thumb 2 are practical for customization. The others have useful default purposes.
Scroll wheel can be set to notched or smooth, however, the switch is at the bottom. So, it's not practical.
On-board memory. (5 profiles for storage of settings)
Instant sensitivity (DPI) change.

G9X is upgraded version of G9. The only difference between G9 and G9X is they have DPI of 3200 vs 5000. DPI doesn't matter. See: What is Mouse DPI? Does DPI Matter? .

The G9X comes with detachable shells. 2 of them, of different sizes. You can attach or detach. In general, i prefer mouse to be small. I'm claw gripper, and i have small, thin, hands.
The G9X and G500 both comes with attachable weight. If you must have heavy mouse, they are for you. I prefer my mouse to be as light as possible.
