This mouse has 2 innovative features.
The top mouse wheel has 2 modes. (1) ratcheted. (2) free spin.
It automatically switch from clicky to free spin, when you flick it fast.
- flick the wheel hard, it spins for more about 20 seconds.
- Turn the wheel slowly, you can feel the click.
You can turn this auto-switch off by pressing the button on top of the mouse, to make it stay in spin mode or clicky mode.
Thumb Wheel
Thumb Wheel. This lets you scroll horizontally. But, how often do you need to do that?
Better, is to set it to {switch tabs, switch apps, switch windows}. That's extremely useful.
The 2 buttons behind the thumb wheel is by default browser forward/backward page. They are kinda awkward to use.
Gesture Button
The Gesture Button is hidden on the thumb rest.
Wireless Bluetooth or USB Receiver
Included is Logitech's Unifying Receiver, meaning that this USB receiver can also be used with other Logitech wireless mouse or keyboards.
But also, this mouse is Bluetooth. So, on any computer that has Bluetooth support, you can connect to 3 PC or Mac computers. Press the button at the bottom of the mouse to switch.
Builtin Wired Charger
Builtin Charger. Included is a USB wire you can connect to mouse to charge. Can charge while in use.
Battery Life Per Charge
Battery is said to be up to 40 Days, but reviewers says 20 days.
Potential Problems
amazon reviewers point out the following potential problems.
- The scroll wheel notched/spin may break. Many said that it becomes just spin, impossible to set to notched mode.
- For some units, the wheel is not evenly weighted or such, so that when you leave finger off the wheel, it may rock a bit, causing page to move.
- bluetooth does not work well on the Mac.
- The thumb wheel may be too sensitive.
