Keyboard and Typing Speed
What kind of keyboard you use have significant effect on your typing speed.
- Shallow profile key switches e.g. Kailh Choc Switch (or laptop keyboards) are faster than full-depth switches. (e.g. Buckling Spring Key Switch)
- Mechanical key-switches keyboard are faster than mushy bad rubber dome switch keyboards, for longer duration, e.g. 30 minutes.
- In general, flat normal keyboard are faster than curved surface ergonomic keyboards such as Kinesis Advantage2 Keyboard
- Linear switches are faster than tactile switches. For example, my speed on Kinesis Advantage2 Keyboard with linear switch (Cherry MX Silent Red) is 10 WPM faster than on the same keyboard with tactile Cherry MX Brown. (Cherry MX Switches)
